FAQ

The initial session consists of a comprehensive foot health care consultation where details of any ailments and medication are recorded. The nails (including ingrown and fungal nails) are trimmed using clippers and filed using a vacuum burring machine.

The safe scalpel technique is used to reduce callus, cracked heels and corns. A paddle file is used to leave the skin smooth.

The treatment is finished with a foot massage using appropriate moisturisers.

Medi-Pedis are available as an optional extra. This consists of all of the above PLUS a foot soak and scrub, application of a foot mask, gentle massage and finishing with a moisturising cream and nourishing nail oil.

The treatment usually involves the removal of dead tissue without blood supply so there is minimal discomfort. Utmost care is taken to adopt a gentle approach. I work with my clients to ensure a comfortable experience.

Chiropodist & Podiatrist are titles protected by law, and in the UK “podiatry” is simply the new name for chiropody.
The name was changed to podiatry in 1993 as it’s the international recognised name for a foot specialist. “Podiatry” refers just to feet while “Chiropody” refers to both feet and hands.

Podiatrists can perform surgical treatments and treat a vast array of foot and lower limb diseases and pathological conditions. Some Podiatrists choose to specialise in areas such as vascular studies, acute diabetic support and paediatric developmental conditions, and as such are capable of taking on cases requiring specialist leg and foot support that cannot be delivered by the Foot Health Practitioner.

As a Foot Health Practitioner I treat minor foot health ailments and do not claim to have the training nor the skills of a Podiatrist.

I work with patents who require routine foot health care, for example: diabetic patients, patients with arthritic hands, vision problems and other debilitating conditions.
Many of my patients simply have difficulty reaching their feet for routine care whilst others just appreciate the help of a practitioner who they can trust to trim their nails and maintain their foot health properly.

In order to provide the best service I can, I work within the scope of my training referring clients, where appropriate, to other healthcare professionals.

Some people are more sensitive around their feet. I have a gentle but firm hold that will prevent you from feeling ticklish. The treatment can be adapted to ensure you are comfortable.
I have a few patients who fidget or have hip/knee issues that prevent them from sitting still for any period of time. This isn’t a problem because I will work with you and adapt treatments to ensure you remain comfortable.

Everyone who books an appointment has one concern or another. Please don’t worry I’m here to help! Feet are the areas of the body that are most neglected and it is important to look after them. I provide a discreet service and I’m trained to look at different kinds of feet with a wide range of problems so don’t worry

I have specifically chosen not to have logos or advertising on my vehicle in order to provide my patients with privacy.

Your foot treatment session can last anything from 40 minutes up to an hour.
It is advisable to have your feet regularly checked. I can discuss with you at your first session how often you should book repeat sessions and why.
